A RUBBISH collection on a nature strip has yielded a surprising find in Melbourne's east.

Two 10-year-old local boys were fossicking through hard rubbish in Sir Garnet Road, Surrey Hills, around 3pm (AEST) today when they discovered a tin containing thousands of dollars.

Police said they were impressed by the boys' honesty after the pair took the money home to their parents, who immediately drove them to Camberwell police station to hand it in.

Local officers are door-knocking the area for information leading to the money's owner.

They would like to hear from anyone who may be able to help with their inquiries.

Police said the owners would need to know the exact amount of cash contained in the tin and would need to be able to describe the distinctive tin in order to claim the money.

It's full of freaks 24 hours a day. Here's what I saw on my short walk to the post office today:
- The wog boy himself, Nick Giannopoulos. "Write this down. Curls get the girls."
- A guy so fat he was sitting on two chairs. One for each cheek. He had to use crutches to walk.

Ok, so I didn't see that much but it wasn't a long walk.
I've also seen a guy walking a llama on Brunswick St. Slightly odd.
The regular sights you will see are junkies begging for change, homeless begging for change and one lazy guy who doesn't look like a junkie or a homeless person begging for change.

Skateboarding outlawed at Docklands

In case you missed the news...

SKATEBOARDING is to be outlawed at Docklands under a council crackdown at the harbour suburb.

The ban aims to offer late-night safety for residents and to halt damage to property.

The Melbourne City Council also wants to beef up security and police presence.

It follows complaints that Docklands residents were being threatened by skaters.

* Vote: Should skateboarding be banned at Docklands?

TV footy celebrity Sam Newman was one who clashed with teens after telling them to clear off.

Skateboarders will face fines of $100 after the local laws are changed.

A fine of $250 is also to be introduced for anyone causing damage or creating nuisance.

Cr Peter Clarke, who has been pushing for tougher security measures and a clampdown on skateboards in the area, said public property such as steps, seats, walls, handrails and artworks were being routinely damaged.

"Given the number of people living there now, they are becoming very protective of their local environment," Cr Clarke said.

He said he was not anti-skateboarding, and would consider a skate park at a site under Bolte Bridge.

The ban follows a late-night attack last week on resident Ron Clarke, who was bashed by a gang of youths.

It has also emerged that previous council signs banning skateboards had no legal standing.

Total BS, BMX riders beat up an elderly man, so skaters get banned from the docklands.

TWO Belgian beer fans have launched a video game named Place to Pee, which allows players to fly down ski slopes or kill aliens while relieving themselves at urinals.

Werner Dupont, a software developer and Bart Geraets, an electrical engineer, got the idea while drinking beers.

The Place to Pee' booth is designed for two users at a time and offers two games - blowing up aliens in outer space or skiing down a virtual slope.

Gamers hit their target by aiming at sensors positioned on either side of the urinal.

A specially designed paper cone allows women to play too, the inventors say.

Their Place to Pee logo resembles Manneken Pis, the little urinating boy fountain that is among Brussels' top sightseeing attractions.

Scientists order filthy keyboard 'condemned'

I just read here that "COMPUTER keyboards can harbour more harmful bacteria than a toilet seat"

IT Company Which? tested the keyboards within their office and found that "One keyboard was so dirty that a microbiologist ordered it to be removed, quarantined and cleaned. It had 150 times the acceptable limit for bacteria and was five times as filthy as a typical toilet seat."

Sounds like its time to run down to the store and buy some antibacterial wipes.

So it must be something in the water, all the people I know from Canberra (bar the beautiful Hayley) are drunks. This 15 yr old kid is no exception.

Unlicensed 15yo caught drink-driving
A 15-year-old boy has been charged with drink-driving after a police pursuit in northern Canberra this morning.

Police attempted to stop the teenager's car on Cotter Road but he failed to stop and they followed him through the suburb of Higgins.

Police say the chase lasted for five minutes with speeds reaching up to 150 kph in a 90 kph zone.

The driver was arrested and breath-tested, allegedly recording an blood alcohol reading of 0.042, more than twice the legal limit.

Police say the boy was also unlicensed and the car was unregistered.

He is expected to appear in the ACT Children's Court today.

Amazing Virtual Pee Experience from Japan

As any good geek should know by now Japan has some of the wackiest and most unusual products anywhere. So when we were visiting Tokyo recently and saw lines of Japanese schoolgirls waiting to play an amazing new game for the Wii called Super Pii Pii Brothers we were only a little surprised. After all with games like WarioWare and Raving Rabbids the Wii is no stranger to crazy gameplay mechanics... but it was quite unusual to see the "strap-on" style accessory and peeing action that Pii Pii Brothers provides. Normally ThinkGeek doesn't carry video games, but we were so blown-away by Super Pii Pii Brothers that we immediately got our trusted Japanese importer on the phone and arranged to bring over a limited quantity of this amazing Wii game along with some cross regional boot discs to allow play on USA Wii consoles.

The play mechanics are simple. Prepare yourself by strapping on the included belt harness and jacking in your Wiimote. A series of toilets are presented on screen and the challenge is to tilt your body to control a never-ending stream of pee. Get as much pee in the toilets as you can while spilling as little on the floor as possible. Sounds easy eh? Well the toilets open and close whack-a-mole style and occasionally the stray cat or other cute critter pops up. Spray a cat for extra points. Get too much pee on the ground and your game is over. With realistic fluid dynamics for the pee and over 100 different bathrooms from bars and palaces to automatic Japanese style toilets you'll be entertained for hours. And wait until your friends see the multi-player mode with dueling pee streams...

Or then again maybe RZA, as Bobby Digital, 5th July.

Or the fact that you can get Margaritas to go, watch movies under Brooklyn Bridge, eat Pretzels every 5 metres, buy Liquor from the Pharmacy and get the Subway absolutely anywhere. It doesn't take much to want to go back to NYC.

Jesus Is Inspiring

But most importantly the recent Cheese Club factor of interest got me inspired about my personal favourite, Comté or Gruyère de Comté, similar to the Swiss Gruyère. I didn't know too much about these cheeses except I really liked them and one time I bought a French Comté at David Jones, one Kraft Singles sized slice cost me over ten dollars.

Upon further investigation I found out the following about my cheese of choice, which I couldn't noticing is pretty much similar with everything I favour in life. Usually French, high quality, totally ridiculous and highly over the top.

* Only milk from Montbéliard cows are permitted, and each must have at least a hectare of grazing.
* Fertilization is limited, and cows may only be fed fresh, natural feed, with no silage.
* The milk must be transported to the site of production immediately after milking.
* Renneting must be carried out within a stipulated time after milking, according to the storage temperature of the cheese.
* Only one heating of the milk may occur, and that must be during renneting. It may be heated to no more than 40C.
* Salt may only be applied directly to the surface of the cheese.
* A casein label containing the date of production must be attached to the side of the cheese, and maturing must continue for at least four months.
* No grated cheese may be sold under the Comté name.

Each cheese takes up to 600 litres (160 US gal) of milk to produce.

One could view a $100 a kilo piece of cheese as a waste, but as someone that has been brought up to worship and thoroughly enjoy food, this kind of ridiculous attention to detail and quality makes me happy. Just like a true Champagne can only be made in Champagne , France has that Je Ne Sais Quoi that I like, from only made to order Goyard trunks and bags, to the iconic lives of the Surrealists, Cubists and Avant Garde, there is much to be learnt from the French. Particularly in the realm of Cuisine.

Queensland born fine artist, and self confessed graffiti ‘writer’ Lee Harnden, also known by the underground pseudonym Linz, takes his solo exhibition to Melbourne for the first time this April titled ‘A Renaissance Uprising’. Comprising of works painted with oil, acrylic and spray paint, Harnden continually blurs the lines between graffiti and fine art; feeling equally at home in front of a stretched canvas as he is painting the raw streetscapes of the Bronx with the Godfather of graffiti – Seen.
Harnden’s dogged pursuance of perfection within his various art forms has seen him travel the world extensively, looking for inspiration wherever he can find it; whether that be bustling through the crowded streets of Lima or Hong Kong, or kicking it in the art and fashion districts of Paris, Los Angeles and New York. A celebrated graffiti writer of 17 years, Harnden has been a staple member of the Ironlak Team since its inception.

'A Renaissance Uprising' is yet another evolution and continuing pursuit of perfection for Harnden, whose last sold out solo exhibition was the acclaimed 'Amongst the Wolves' shown at the Perc Tucker Gallery (www.townsville.qld.gov.au/perctucker/) in Queensland. She is a writer from NYC who has more balls than most bw/polo/nautica hats out there, pretending to paint trains and one of the few women in Streetwear to be running her own successful label.

She has also done two shoes with Nike, first the Blazer and then the Vandal, being the first female to have designed a Tier 0 release.

She has turned her throw-ups into one of the most recognisable symbols in graffiti and fashion, runs her own tee/hood label, her collection label, an amazing range of eyewear and is also the fashion director of Swindle, Shephard Faireys publication.

She has just relaunched her website with her new collection online, all super reasonably priced, with Hoods for $90 and Tees around $45. As well as her amazing frames and some dope accessories, which ain't cheap at all, but I would definately drop $300 on those gold numbers. Real gold and tight as hell.

Another reason to love Karl and the legacy that Gabrielle Chanel entrusted him, he has devised an amazing (free) mobile art project to travel through Asia, America and Europe over the next few years.

Taken from The Cool Hunter A travelling project, with entry free to all, Mobile Art will circulate for two years throughout Asia, the United States and Europe.In a futuristic pavilion created by the architect Zaha Hadid at the request of Karl Lagerfeld, some twenty international artists will exhibit work that was inspired by the elements that give the CHANEL bag its identity. Through this collaboration, resulting from their singular points of view - poetic, audacious and as yet unseen - the multiple facets of this mythical bag and its universe are revealed.

For all the true Largerfeld fans out there, Largerfeld Confidential is an amazing personal insight into the known recluse and well worth the time and effort to procure and watch.

I would also highly recommend reading Chanel and Her World by Edmonde Charles-Roux. It was originally published in the 70's (I have my mothers copy from 1979) and has been out of print for the past ten years. He was a close friend of Gabrielle and the Editor of French Vogue and instead of writing a fluffy memoir of the years of her life that were charmed, he starts with her painfully peasant past and details her severe insecurities and compulsive lies through till her death bed. He also reveals her affiliations with the Avant Garde cubists of the time, naming Jean Cocteau, Reverdy, Picasso and many other artists of the time as her close friends. For anyone that takes a serious interest in Chanel or even the Surrealists and Cubists it is well worth the history lesson.

She's on the tail legs of a 5 week snowboarding adventure in Vancouver and has plenty of super interesting photos of her time. I miss her and will be very happy come April 1st when we get to party again.

I have been slack lately, very slack here, very busy elsewhere. I quit my job last week so its time for something new.

I am dying for the Denim Jacket to drop, who would have thought someone could ever make them fashionable again, and the gigantic tees and tailored tops. Its dope to see someone finally bringing some craft to streetwear. Check out the full preview here.

Other than that I've been buying lots of shoes lately, the well heeled kind and debating on whether or not this bag is really worth $1550 US or whether the money would be better spent on something practical, now that the weather is starting to turn.

In other good news American Apparel opened last week opposite my work which is a godsend for winter basics. Now all we need is H&M and we're starting to get with the rest of the world.

All I know for sure is that I need a new Burberry Coat with Winter fast approaching and a new higher paying job to cover all this spending.

A lot of things can happen in 4 days when you're not at work. The following took place between close of work on Thursday and re-commencement of work Tuesday morning. I'm using more pictures than words because they're pretty and typing is not my strong point (even though it says it is on my CV). Other stuff did happen but let's say it didn't.
THURSDAY NIGHT.
I headed to the Vice/American Apparel launch party at work. Things were looking grim when everyone from work bailed on me. Luckily Soph was in the mood for free booze.
We ran into a couple of girls who were pretending to be lesbians. One dressed pretty well for an unemployed person.

We ran into Toby who can hold his own when it comes to guzzling free beer.

I began to stockpile supplies like we were in the middle of a depression.

Our worst fears came true. The free booze ran out (for most people). So Soph and I moved on to to a place with good food and proceeded to ponder our lives, have one more drink and talk absolute rubbish.

SATURDAY NIGHT (Idon't know what happened to Friday night)
Favela Rock rolled around and went like this:

Tiprats were drunk round for round.
People I didn't expect to show up showed up.
These days it's still dark at 6am. Bring back Summer.
Possums and cats should be allowed into Miss Libertines.
Tomato sauce doesn't impress me as a garnish in the wee hours of the morning.
